Nonetheless, senior officials acknowledged the issue and made sure the BJP did well in the assembly election.

A senior Bharatiya Janata Party official said the Madhya Pradesh cadre initially faced low morale and frontline workers were suffering from fatigue. But leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, helped boost morale.
A senior Bharatiya Janata Party official said that leaders in Madhya Pradesh initially appeared disappointed and workers on the ground felt apathetic. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah intervened to revive the party’s spirit. “Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah foresaw the challenges and immediately convened an early meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC) to assess the situation on the ground.
“They also announced their first list of candidates ahead of their rivals, injecting new energy into Madhya Pradesh’s waning cadre,” a Bharatiya Janata Party official said. Officials further said that Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah have addressed the issues on the ground and mobilized the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in the state. “The RSS efforts have helped strengthen his BJP base in Madhya Pradesh, creating a domino effect of activating local party membership.
These efforts have made the Bharatiya Janata Party more competitive. We were able to prepare ourselves,” the official said. Another senior source told India Today that the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership understands the need to remain proactive until states begin voting. “This foresight led to early distribution of tickets, especially in seats where the saffron party had little chance of winning,” the official explained. Moreover, the Bharatiya Janata Party strategically deployed several Union ministers and MPs in the election campaign, demonstrating flexibility in its governance.
The approach of involving senior leaders, Union ministers and MLAs on the ground was aimed at conveying the message that Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s role as the state’s chief minister is not set in stone. “From grassroots power pact movements to star-studded rallies and roadshows, all of these have helped the Bharatiya Janata Party regain the confidence of the people and propelled the party to a position that upset the once-confident Congress.”
Voting for all 230 parliamentary constituencies took place at once on Friday (November 17). This year’s voter turnout was the highest ever since the state of Madhya Pradesh was created in 1956. It was also 0.59 percentage points higher than the 75.63 percent turnout in the 2018 assembly polls. It is noteworthy that since 2003, the Bharatiya Janata Party has won three Madhya Pradesh assembly elections while the Congress has won only once.
